Job Description

Vertical Advanced Engineering is expanding and requires stress engineers to assist in the design and development of motorsport, aerospace, automotive and marine vehicle technologies.

The ideal candidate will be skilled in stress analysis of full vehicle or component systems using FEA and hand calcs.


Your duties will be wide ranging and varied and will include:

  • Performing structural analysis using FEA and hand calcs on composite and metallic parts and assemblies
  • Optimisation of design for mass reduction
  • Contribute to the design process from a structural perspective
  • Specify and lead structural testing and certification
  • Contribute to process and methods development for the department
  • Detailed reporting of all work

Basic Qualifications / Experience

  • Educated to degree level or higher in Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a relevant industrial environment
  • A sound knowledge of commercial analysis packages
  • Knowledge of metallic and composite materials
  • Passionate about technology and thrive in a dynamic environment where flexibility is essential
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas so that they are understood by different audiences
  • Fluent in spoken and written English language

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience working with motorsport or aerospace composite structures
  • Proficient user of Hypermesh and Optistruct
  • Experience of materials qualification programmes
  • Experience with aerospace certification process
  • Commitment to professional development
